PATH® Technique Patient Testimonials - BillCONSERVE® Total Hip with BFH® Technology Recipient
through the PATH® Minimally-Invasive Surgical Technique
Bill was referred to a local orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. George Markovich, who recommended Bill have a total hip replacement in both hips with Wright’s CONSERVE® Total Hip with BFH® Technology using the PATH® Tissue-Sparing surgical technique. The CONSERVE® Total Hip features a larger femoral head ball and socket design that more closely matches the sizing of a natural femoral head, resulting in greater range of motion, which may reduce the incidence of dislocation. In addition, the implant’s metal-on-metal bearing surface is designed to offer the benefits of added durability and reduced wear compared to alternative treatment options. The larger sized implant enables a greater range of motion, allowing most patients to enjoy a wider range of activities after surgery. This can make a big difference to those trying to return to a more normal, active lifestyle. The PATH® surgical technique is a procedure that preserves the soft tissue and the function and stability in the hip joint. Dr. Markovich replaced Bill’s right hip in May 2006 and his left hip in
August 2006. Bill reports that the recovery time after both of his surgeries was
good and went better than he could have expected. Within one week after both
surgeries, Bill was back on the road and back to his life. Today, Bill is living his active lifestyle. He is retired and enjoying the outdoors by playing golf, riding his bike, and going on long walks. “I am no longer in any pain, where before my surgery I was in pain 24/7 and couldn’t sleep at night. I am 80 percent of what I used to be, but I hope and expect to get to 110 percent. I highly recommend this procedure to others who are postponing treatment due to any pain they may be experiencing.” These results are specific to this individual only. Individual results and activity levels after surgery vary and depend on many factors including age, weight and prior activity level.
